“ Object Of My Affection “

I remember when my daughter Selena was a baby, she was so easy to teach new things, and eager to try new things like most babies are, but the one thing I didn’t realize would be a challenge was getting her to give up that pacifier, she easily threw away her bottle for a sip cup, and walking was a breeze,

And potty trained like a champion, but she had one object of affection and that was her pacifier.   She had it with her all the time, if she didn’t have it in her mouth she had it in her hand, and no way was she going to sleep without it,  if it got lost or misplaced, she would cry and cry until she had it in her hand again. 

It amazes me how that sometimes, even as adults we too hang on to objects of affection in our lives, it’s those things that bring us security and satisfaction, keeps us in our comfort zone.

It can range from feeling secure in a relationship, a job, feeling financially secure, the security of knowing we have provided for our future and our children’s future.

And all of these things can and should be of importance, but in reality none of those things can truly bring us satisfaction.

And most of all no matter how much we try to prepare for them and control them, none of them in all actuality are really secure, for time and circumstances that can be out of our control may tip the scale in any direction, just like that pacifier my sweet baby loved so much in all reality had nothing to really give back to her, it was just an object in her hand.  In all actuality it had no way to keep her secure nor could it offer her love and comfort in return.

Just like all those things we today are affectionate about truly cannot offer us true security and peace in our hearts and lives, it is all superficial.

But Jesus said in John 4:14:

But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

 And again inJohn 6:51:

I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever, and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

Can I tell you today that unless Jesus becomes your object of affection you shall hunger forever, unless you learn now to feed your soul on Him.

Your thirst shall never be quenched except you learn to drink of the spirit and partake of Bread of Jesus Christ.

Nothing in your life can be secure, nor can it satisfy you like Jesus can.

When he becomes your greatest object of affection your heart will rejoice. Dedication to Him brings pure rapture when the desires of your heart are wholly fixed upon Him, for His name alone, when breathed in adoration, lifts the weariest heart from despair and fills the seeking soul with the greatest of satisfaction.

Lord , you have assigned me my portion' and my cup; you have made my lot secure.

Psalm 16:5 says:

The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely  I have a delightful inheritance.

I will praise the Lord who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me; I have set the Lord always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

Jesus has a message going out today!!!

Feed on Me my children!!! Your heart shall be filled with gladness when I become the most important and the highest object of your affection.

Lay aside the cares of life for just a little while and spend time with the Master.

You have spent yourself in the things of this world that have only brought you pain and unrest,  stop! and look around you !!! Has there ever been a day like today?

Truly this world is in chaos, we see it every where we look... and yet in the midst of the darkest hour Jesus is sending out His call to His children and He is telling them that even in the midst of the darkest times we can have peace...

But My soul is grieving because my children have become so calloused of spirit and hard of heart that they cannot hear My voice anymore...

My voice that is calling them to taste and see that the Lord, He is good.

And I would give so freely if they would only ask...

My child, lay at My feet and give yourself to love and worship me.

For he who clings to My hand in childlike trust shall walk with great joy the path of safety.

For I shall hide them underneath the shadow of My wing and preserve them from all the fiery darts of the enemy.

Honor Me today in your heart and I will put My words upon your lips and I will use you in this day and hour to fulfill My purpose.

And you will drink of me and be satisfied,

As the greatest object of your affection will surely bring back to you the greatest and most fulfilling love, and His arms will surely hold you and bring you to peace always.
